Senator Brandon Creighton Named Vice Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Redistricting

Austin, Texas–Monday, Senator Brandon Creighton (R-Conroe) was appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the Senate Select Committee on Redistricting for the first called session of the 89th Legislature. Sen. Creighton offered the following comment:
“I look forward to working with my colleagues to review Texas’s congressional maps following a recent letter from the U.S. Department of Justice. The DOJ raised concerns about four districts—and urged the state to address potential legal issues under the Voting Rights Act and the Constitution.
The committee’s objective is clear: ensure Texas maps comply with constitutional requirements–as they deserve a serious and thorough review.
This process will be fully transparent, with public hearings open to all Texans. Every voice matters, and we welcome input from communities across the state.”
