“Today the 89th Texas Legislature convened, and I’m honored to get to work for the people
of Senate District 4 and this great state. Over the next 140 days, we will tackle the biggest
challenges facing Texas with bold, conservative solutions. From property tax relief, finally
delivering school choice and giving our teachers a much needed pay raise, to strengthening
our power grid and ensuring Texas remains the economic engine of the nation, we have a lot
to accomplish.
“I am humbled and honored to be selected by my fellow Senators as the President Pro-Tem
for the 89th legislative session. It’s a privilege to serve alongside my colleagues who I
consider true friends, and I am committed to upholding the high standards that Texans
rightfully expect from their elected officials.
“To the voters of Senate District 4, thank you for trusting me to represent you in the Texas
Senate. It is a responsibility I take seriously every single day. I also look forward to working closely
with Lt. Governor Patrick and Governor Abbott as we serve the more than 30 million
Texans who rely on us to deliver results.
“This session is about securing Texas’ future—protecting our border, empowering parents,
supporting teachers, and driving economic growth. As I said in my remarks today, our
mandate is clear: to protect the Texas dream, set the pace for America and the world, and, by
working together, ensure our state continues to lead the nation in hope, opportunity, and
prosperity.
“I’m confident we’ll rise to the challenge and deliver conservative results for Texans. Let’s get
to work—may God bless this great state.”
